Mississippi Health Benefits
- Mississippi Health Benefits is a cumulative term for the programs available
for Mississippi's uninsured children. These include traditional Medicaid
and Children's
Health Insurance Program. There is one application for both programs.
Families do not have a choice which insurance each child will receive.
This is based totally on income and age of child. Children are tested
first for Medicaid eligibility. If they are not eligible, they are immediately
tested for CHIP eligiblity. Both programs allow for pre-existing conditions.
Neither have anything to do with Welfare.
